3. A lady should never have to carry her own bags...
June 23, 2009
I'm writing this to stop me from falling asleep, since a certain fish had me waiting for him for a loooong time last night... :P I passed out at around 3AM, only to wake up at 6 again to talk to him some more. ♥
That aside, I'm on the Eurostar right now, with about 10mins left until we leave. After a month, I'm finally going back home. I figured I'd use this time to look back at what I've been doing this month, the people I've met, things I've learned and so on. A LOT has happened so I'm not going to be able to remember ALL of it, but I'm sure you can forgive me for that, right? :P
Right, off we go then! Back to May 22nd, when I arrived here. (Or was it 23rd? I'm already forgetting things, what a great start. :P) Either way, I got here on Friday morning, with the people from the Belgian Cosplay Forum. The plan? A weekend of cosplay, anime, games and general geekiness at London MCM Expo! On Friday, we met Dan (who is going to be in this post a lot more later on -- stay tuned for that!) and he showed us around the more touristy parts of London (Camden, mainly). Apart from that, we just stayed at the hotel, explored the neighbourhood a bit and generally relaxed.
Then, Saturday! The first day of the expo, also the day when I would meet Phil, Joe and Jazz. My hotelroomies all left before me since they had early bird tickets, while I lounged around and took advantage of the now free bathroom (no rushed shower for me >:D), taking my time to get ready without stress. I put on my Lazytown cosplay, made a quick vid and went off to the expo! Had to wait around for Phil and crew for a couple of hours (they're not very good at being on time :P) and met some really nice people while doing so. I also got chased around by a pedobear (Stephanie, a loli? Nahhh~) and got a dog-hamburger-toy-thing thrown at me by Ward... which I later gave to a random cosplayer I met at the entrance who said he'd pin it on his "Expo-memories" wall. xD I also met one of my youtube subscribers, another lovely Stephanie-cosplayer. After that, Phil finally arrived, I changed into a different cosplay (Anmitsu Hime), had wig issues, changed out of my cosplay and went with Joe, Phil and Jazz to get some food. Later that evening there was the so-called cosplay rave... which was honestly not a rave at all. There were still normal lights on "because people have to be able to see their drinks" and all the DJ would play were anime OST's. Not bad, but not rave-material. >_>; So that kind of failed, I left in the middle of it to go pack my bags, and then texted Azzy to see what he was up to. Walked over to his hotel for a bit, hung out with the cool kids there until they all decided it was time for bed and Azzy walked me back to my hotel. I got my suitcases, tried to find the cab that was called for me (Damn illegal taxis trying to confuse me... Thanks for the help with that, Chip!) and went to Phil's place.
Spent the night there with the plan to go back to the expo on Sunday... but that didn't really go as planned. XD Ended up just sitting around at home, getting to know the guys and having them convince me to stay a bit longer. So I called up my dad and asked him if he was fine with it, with the result that I got to stay another week. Yay~
The next week was filled with tree-climbing, lots of food and more convincing Sja to stay. Eventually, they managed to keep me there for another 3 weeks, until after Download festival. I don't remember what happened when during that time, so here's just some random parts I feel like sharing;
Went out with Jazz, Phil and Dan for a day, to Camden, parapara, purikura and curry. Convinced Dan to stay over for the night and went for random parksitting the next day. Got a vegetarian pizza with a whole bunch of meat on it... Which I put to the side and unknowingly attracted ants with. Loooovely.
Somewhere in those weeks, Wolfgang also visited! He arrived on a Friday, the day I got my tattoo and met Jay. See, Dan, Wolfgang and Jazz all came with me to get the tattoo, but when it was done, I couldn't find any of them. So I stood outside being scared and lonely for a bit, until Jay came outside and offered me his phone to call them. Called Dan, he said Wolfgang and he would be back in a couple of mins, gave Jay his phone back and went to wait for them again outside. When they arrived, we waited outside for Jazz when Dan suddenly got a text... "Tell your Belgian friend I think she's gorgeous." Jay had used the number I called to contact Dan to hit on me. :P Romantic, right~? Either way, we met up again with Jazz and also met up again with Jay later that day. Went to a random pub, had some drinks and we all went our own ways again. Saw Jay, Dan, Wolfgang, Jazz, Joe and Phil a lot more, but I'm actually really sick of writing all this. Download was fun, I saw Marilyn Manson (used to be a huge fan) who was obviously not very sober, Pendulum (lots of pits there -- not really what I was hoping for) and The Prodigy which was just AMAZING. They had me going the entire set, it was the most fun I had at the festival. The week after Download was spent at Jays place, and consisted mostly of staying inside and gaming, except for the day we went out with Dan to Camden. (That was the day I was originally going home... but stuff happened and I didn't have the money, which I still don't now but I'll survive. Though a drink would be VERY appreciated right now.)
That was also the week in which I got a lot closer to my Fishlove, who seems to be very good at saying all the right things at exactly the right time. Whenever I felt homesick or just upset in general, he'd cheer me up even without knowing what the problem was (or that there even was a problem at all).
Then yesterday, a lot of things happened on DMS which were both funny and sad at the same time. I won't get into the details, I'm sure you DMSers know what I'm talking about anyway. Either way, it caused a LOT of drama, inspired a "LEAVE NICO ALONE" video and strangely enough, brought me closer to the happiness I've been looking for.
Wow, all that took me over 30 minutes to write. @_@ No wonder I'm sick of it now. So yeah, that was my month in a nutshell, feel free to leave me comments (click on the blog's title if you can't see the commentbox), mail me, shower me with gift/compliments/love, whatever you'd like. I'm interested to see who's reading this, and meeting new people never hurts. :P
Time for a nap on the train now, roughly 4 hours until I'm home! Thanks for reading, loves, and take care. ♥
